Welcome

This is about improving our drawing experiences, and hopefully have something to build on and expand our critiques. If you have a drawing you want to talk about, you should be able to post pictures and comments. If you have difficulty, just email me! Should be fun! Thanks!

Spring Equinox part 2

And this is my version - yes I know the arm is funny-looking - she is capable of doing that - and I decided to stay true to what I saw - instead of editing it so it would look more typical of an arm in that position - forgetting that as an artist you can do that - or fix things that are distracting instead of supporting the drawing/painting. Just in case it isn't obvious - I'm still struggling . . .

Spring Equinox

This drawing has a lovely sense of ease and accomplishment, not to mention a gentle emotive quality - not done by me of course! But done by my "across-the-room-compatriot-Donna. My version follows which is the opposite side view.

Hitting a wall

I've been stuck here for a while, so I think I needed to change things up a bit. I have been trying to loosen up - isn't that sort of counter-productive: "trying" to "loosen" ??? So, I decided to be less concerned with accuracy, and more concerned with response. I usually work on 18x24 and decided to reduce my size. And I usually stand - but I have noticed a pattern of the last few seasons - for some reason (time change?) - I have been getting very tired this time of year so I sat down to draw which is a very difficult adjustment. This work doesn't get me where I want to go, but something is changing in my head which is a good thing! (I think . . .)

Boy, these dry spells are tough!

This is the only drawing that I think is even worth talking about, the others from this session are so stiff, tight and just so not right, that I didn't want to waste my time taking a picture. It has been awhile since I have done anything that I remotely felt accomplished, I'm glad I didn't have enough time to mess it up! It's graphite on drawing paper, 15 minutes, and a great new model!
