Welcome

This is about improving our drawing experiences, and hopefully have something to build on and expand our critiques. If you have a drawing you want to talk about, you should be able to post pictures and comments. If you have difficulty, just email me! Should be fun! Thanks!

Drawings 1-24-12

15 minute pose - not perfect - but not overworked either - as I tend to do . . .
What unexpected things that can happen to colors when you put them together. You may not be able to see it here, but the sienna color is the same color as in the 15 minute pose, and here, it jumps to red after adding the red blanket in. So enjoy playing with the reflected color and texture of the pastels.
Proportions a bit off and a few areas need repair, but overall, much looser in application.

Catching Up on Drawings from 1-17-12

Had fun with the red stringy scarf and the patterned blanket - still working towards a more painterly style . . .
These extreme foreshortened poses are a hoot to do - almost like a puzzle - not only do you have to figure it out yourself - but you have to explain it later!!!

January 10 drawings

This bluish one was the first longer drawing. I've looked at it a few days now and I'm not sure what I think about it. There are some inaccuracies such as the head is still a bit smaller than it should be, and the arms and hands are bit larger than they should be - but I'm still working towards a more "painterly" style. I think.
This greyish one is the second, and I'm happier with it than the first one. Our model is thin and angular, and she is difficult to render that while maintaining her gender identity and her overall loveliness

A New Year

I can't wait to get started drawing on Tuesday night at the CAM! There's some great classes being offered: 7 drawing classes (I'm teaching 2, my friends Donna Moore and Martha Burdette are teaching the others). In addition to our regular drawing group, we now have a drawing group that meets in Studio 1 where one can paint in  oils or acrylics, where they have a 1 to 2 (I think?) hour long pose. It's a punch card situation where you pay $70 which is good for 7 sessions in either drawing group and the card is good for a year, so you can come anytime. I'll probably take advantage of that to do an oil study once in a while. So many fun opportunities coming up - I hope we all take the plunge and have a creative, productive time!
