This bluish one was the first longer drawing. I've looked at it a few days now and I'm not sure what I think about it. There are some inaccuracies such as the head is still a bit smaller than it should be, and the arms and hands are bit larger than they should be - but I'm still working towards a more "painterly" style. I think.
This greyish one is the second, and I'm happier with it than the first one. Our model is thin and angular, and she is difficult to render that while maintaining her gender identity and her overall loveliness
I'm in love with the blue collarbone on the first drawing ... and you really captured her posture and described her body in the second.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, both heads seem a tad too small to scale ... but terrific!
It does pop - the collarbone was a lighter value than the deep shadow it was in, but not as light as the similar value under the raised leg. I thought about just making it lighter rather than colorizing it, but the design would be blander? And I just am going to have to be more disciplined and focused on scaling these pea-heads - DANG IT!
DeleteI know ... after looking longer ... her neck in second drawing is extended and maybe her profile a little too close - chin tucked in too much?
ReplyDeleteI'm really attracted to the line under her right thigh. I like how it grabs a couple other lines on her opposite knee and foot.
The profile definitely does not look like her as much as it should - I did exaggerate her neck, she is very elongated, and I'm thinking her nose is not the right shape, and the hair is not the right shape - that would fix everything with the head. But I do like to play with the lights and darks.
